Be an Ally for LGBTQ+ & Diversity Equality and Inclusion

  • Administration's censorship of references to transgender people by dropping the T from LGBTQ+ in the State Department, Social Security Administration, and other federal agencies

  • PFLAG v. Trump - Support to a temporary restraining order issued to block the enforcement of the administration’s executive orders that seek to restrict essential and evidence-based gender-affirming healthcare

Removal of Online Resources:

Federal agencies have removed numerous web pages, policies, and guides related to LGBTQ+ issues. This includes resources for LGBTQ+ students, information for veterans, and data on LGBTQ+ equity.

Executive Orders and Policy Changes:

Executive orders have been issued to dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs within the federal government.

These orders have led to the removal of DEI-focused web pages, the cancellation of staff training, and the shuttering of diversity offices.

There are changes to the definition of gender within federal policy, with actions to restrict the recognition of gender identities outside of the traditional male/female binary.

Impact on Federal Agencies:

Agencies like the Department of Education, the State Department, and others have been affected by these changes.

There are reports of confusion and inconsistent implementation as agencies attempt to comply with the new directives.

The removal of information from sites, such as the CDC, that gave information on transgender health and other LGTBQ+ health information is also a large part of this issue.

Criticism and Concerns:

Critics argue that these actions represent a rollback of civil rights and could lead to increased discrimination.
