Advocate for Climate Sustainability
-
The agricultural sector, mainly the livestock sector, is responsible for more emissions than the transportation sector.
-
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), which all federal nutrition programs follow, should be plant-rich. Rising livestock requires significant quantities of feed, mostly grown with synthetic pesticides and fertilizers

Rollback of Climate Policies:
The new administration has issued executive orders that rescind previous climate-related policy directives, guidance, and plans. This includes actions by the General Services Administration (GSA) to address climate change risk, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote sustainable practices in federal buildings.
There are also expected rollbacks of EPA regulations, with concerns about weakened environmental protections.
Emphasis on Energy Independence:
The administration is prioritizing "Unleashing American Energy," focusing on increasing domestic fossil fuel production and infrastructure. This includes streamlining permitting for fossil fuel projects and potentially suspending certain environmental regulations.
This directive is in direct conflict with many climate sustainability goals.

Impact on Corporate Sustainability:
These policy shifts create uncertainty for businesses that have invested in sustainability initiatives. Companies may face conflicting pressures from federal regulations versus state-level policies and investor demands for climate action.
Even with federal policy changes, climate risk management remains crucial for businesses due to increasing extreme weather events.

International Agreements:
Executive orders show a shift toward domestic economic and energy interests over multilateral climate commitments, with potential withdrawal from international climate agreements.
