Demand Accountability of DOGE

  • Out of checks and balances. Treasury Department coffers, Social Security & Medicare benefits in jeopardy

  • School lunch funding, spending meant for retirees, veterans, working families/ Dismantling USAID, World Aid Agency/ Department of Education

Opaque Operational Structure:

DOGE's design shields it from the typical transparency expected of government agencies. This lack of transparency is a core concern.

As reported by the New York Times, this has led to lawsuits challenging the department's legality and accountability.

Executive Privilege and Limited Oversight:

The department's positioning, particularly with the involvement of figures like Elon Musk as a presidential advisor, raises questions about executive privilege and its impact on public access to information.

This situation effectively limits DOGE's compliance with federal public records laws.

Legal Challenges and Demands for Transparency:

Numerous lawsuits are challenging DOGE's operations, arguing that its broad influence requires public transparency.

These legal battles center on whether DOGE should be subject to the same transparency laws as other government agencies.

Concerns Over Potential Misuse of Power:

Critics express worries about the potential for misuse of power due to the department's lack of oversight.

concerns are also raised about the qualifications of some of the DOGE employees, and their access to sensitive data.

Legislative Attempts to Increase Accountability:

There are legislative actions being taken to try and increase the accountability of the DOGE department. For example, the "LEASH DOGE Act" intends to force more transparency on the department
